Membership Eligibility Criteria
In order to maintain the integrity of the NZOPA, the association has eligibility criteria for each membership type. Please note that no application or qualification will be reviewed without payment of the application fee. The Executive Committee does their best to process all applications promptly, but please allow up to 6 weeks for your application to be processed once the application fee has been paid and all documentation has been provided.
Employment Requirements
NZOPA members must be currently working in the Orthotics and Prosthetics industry. We are happy to welcome O&P Professionals from across the globe, however in order to qualify for a full membership with voting rights, an applicant is required to work in the O&P Industry in New Zealand.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for a full membership with the NZOPA, applicants must hold NZQF Level 7 or above in Orthotics and/or Prosthetics.
NZQF International Qualification Assessment
Applicants may be required to obtain an NZQF International Qualification Assessment of overseas qualifications. If this is required, it will be at the applicant's expense and the application review will be put on hold until the completed assessment is received by the NZOPA.
Qualifications that are listed on New Zealand Immigration Appendix 3 - List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment are exempt from requiring assessment. Applicants who’s qualifications are on that list will need to bring this information to the Executive’s attention when applying.
NZOPA Recognised Qualifications
Based on executive committee review and ISPO recognition, the NZOPA has recognised additional qualifications outside of the NZQF Level 7.
